Woke up from a dream, it was the first day of my new life
Stepped out of the dorm into the Amherst twilight
Waved goodbye to all my friends they're now a thousand miles away
But I keep them in my heart with this song each and every day
And life it keeps on changing some times I feel so damn insane
I felt so lost in high school now I feel so far away
And I know that in my heart I'll make these feelings feel okay
I guess that every Amherst night, is followed by Amherst days
Woke up in the morning to the same old song again
The one that makes me forget who I am and where I've been
But this time it sounds different it's not quite the same at all
As I stare into the first leaves of a classic Amherst fall
They haven't looked so pretty, ever since I was a boy
Running down the quiet streets of Wilmette, Illinois
And I know that in my heart I might survive this after all
Before I know it we'll all be singing, “Have A Nice Trip, See You Next Fall”
Yeah I guess these Amherst nights ain't so bad after all (x4)
